Biography

Catherine "Kat" Watson is what some would call naturally talented. Growing up with her single father, who was greatly influenced by music himself, Kat was determined at a young age to have a career in music. Originally wanting to go into music performance, Kat joined choir in school and when she was ten, received her first guitar from her father for Christmas. That Fender guitar was love at first sight for Kat and she knew that was what she wanted to do; sing and play her guitar.
Kat managed her first band at twelve years old; 7th grade year in junior high school. A young cover band, the journey was a short one. Two months later, the band split and Kat put it behind her, not thinking twice.
Half a year later, a friend asked Kat to manage their band. Going out of her way to make sure that they had the best equipment available to them, a birthday party and a talent show later, the drummer moved out of state.
As the summer approached, Kat, a girl who had always gone to local shows, started to attend more.

It was at a show that Kat secured her decision to do music business.
At the age of thirteen, Kat changed her entire 4 year plan for High School so that she could major in Commercial Music Management.
She picked up more clients and got bigger into the local music scene as her freshman year in high school came to a close. A local band named Goodnight Marla had produced all the local shows in Alvin until that time, but they were breaking up.
Kat's first official show, organized and coordinated on her own accord, took place behind the Alvin Branch Library at the National Oak Park Pavilion on May 31, 2005. She was fourteen. It was such a complete success and soon everyone wanted Kat Watson to help with their band.

Kat picked up a band containing six of her closest friends and she knew it was time to get serious. Daze On End played 36 shows in the short 2 and a half months that they were together. Despite putting on shows behind the town library and juggling a job as Assistant Show Coordinator/Bookie/Promoter at the Alvin Bowling Alley, Kat made Daze On End her first priority.
Daze On End split the night of the First Annual Alvin Music Festival, a show that Kat had booked many bands for. A night of fighting and arguing, Kat would not recognize defeat.
Torn, Watson decided that she wanted to start a production company. Originally, there were to be three owners; Kat Watson, Chow Tuy, and Sands Ortiz. Tuy and Ortiz insisted that when Kat “got it going”, they would help out, but she was not willing to take this offer.
Within three months, Kat had Tuy and Ortiz working for her, along with an assistant, flier coordinators, promoters, and much more. Fyasko! Productions was dominating the Alvin music scene and branching out.

But an unfortunate event moved Kat Watson out of Alvin, Texas, the town that had brought much success so far. Kat's grandmother, Ruth attempted murder on her father, step-mother, and herself. After a night of turmoil, Kat and her family found themselves homeless. Kat stayed with friends and her family stayed at her step-sister's tiny one and a half bedroom house. Soon after, her family relocated to Austin, Texas, where she resided from February 2007 to November 2008.
Since Kat started Fyasko! Productions, she has worked with many local bands, in the Southern Texas Region.
A true "Jack-of-all-trades" she does everything from promoting to running her company.
Through many ups and downs, Kat realized her raw talent and chose her career path.

During her high school career she had many responsibilties, such as Student Director and Choir President, manager of the cheerleading squad, a Senior Leader for a youth-mentor organization called Young Life, and advocating through public speaking with Youth Launch/Youth Partnership for Change against teen alcohol prevention. Kat also interned with Heather Wagner of juice Consulting (Beyonce Knowles, Music World Entertainment, Columbia Records, www.juiceconsulting.com) and worked with other music professionals such as Leslie Wyatt (www.yippi.com/leslie), Joe Stallone (www.groundedinmusic.org), and much more.

Catherine now lives in Chicago, Illinois and will be attending Columbia College Chicago in January 2009 where she will double major in Music Production & Engineering and Music Business, in which she aspires to receive a doctorate. She would like to eventually go for a third major in Marketing/Merchandising.
