Did you ever think that you would get started at your age? To be completely honest, I never even thought
about it. I don't know that I realized it wasn't normal for a twelve year old to have the desire to work. I just wanted to
do it, so I did and it made me happy, so I kept doing it.
If you weren't doing music business, what would you be
doing? Music Performance? I couldn't tell you. I've never really had to think it over. I love fashion? Maybe something
there.
What were you thinking when Daze On End first asked you to manage them? Third time is a charm? Ha.
Honestly, I had no idea. I was thinking, "What do I say?" and after I said yes, I was thinking, "I have no idea what I am
doing!" and so I took some workshops and classes and afterwards realized...I already knew what to do for the most part, it
was just reassuring myself I was on the right track.
If you could describe MissFyasko! in one word, what would it
be? Giving; if I could do this every day for the rest of my life for free, I would.
Describe the music business
from your experiences so far. Music is hard. The music business? Even harder. But worth every second of it.
What are some obstacles you've faced while trying to make a name for yourself? Coming from Alvin, Texas.
A lot of people ask me how I expect to make it big after coming from a small town that no one has ever heard of. I guess I
just always thought if you were good enough that you would make it or it just wasn’t meant to be. Also, school is an
obstacle. It holds me back because I get invited to do all these things, but I can’t do them. I can’t tour; I
can’t travel. School is important to me and I’ve always had big aspirations for furthering my education. I always
get asked, "Do people take you seriously at seventeen?" And the truth is, they have. People know me as the seventeen year
old who knows what she is doing. Which is nice, I have to admit. My workers and clients get the same thing. "Your boss is
seventeen?!" or "You're manager is seventeen?!" I've heard them say many different things. They tell me I can put in my acceptance
speech when I win my first Grammy Award that I started early and they doubted me, but look at me now. I wouldn't do that,
though. I wouldn't rub it in anyones face. It's not about who did what; it's about the music.
How does it feel to
be so established at such a young age? It's nice and it's hard. It's amazing to get to work in the music/entertainment
industry. Loads of people dream to have a job like this. Mine became a reality. I'm really very fortunate.
What's
your favorite part of putting on a show? I don’t put on as many shows as I used to, but my favorite part though
is at night, when it's over and nobody wants to go home. Or when people are contacting me and asking..."When is the next show
going to be?"
What has been your favorite show so far? I got asked to do the very last Goodnight Marla farewell
show. It was an honor to do that show since it was a sort of passing of the torch in Alvin. Goodnight Marla had done a lot
of the shows that were put on in Alvin before I came along. When I was asked to do their last show, I was thrilled. It was
the greatest achievement I'd had up to that point because it seemed like I was finally accepted into my position. I loved
every second of it. Even though it wasn't a big deal to everyone, I just enjoyed that I was sort of finally coming into my
own.
Is there any specific aspect of the job that you love doing? The music. Haha. I just really love this
job.
What is your biggest project right now? My biggest project isn't even my job, it's about my personal
life. I'm just really focused on getting into school right now and making the best of this opportunity that I have been given.
Why
did they nickname you "MissFyasko!"? I don't know. It was my assistants’ idea. The whole Fyasko! Productions
was what triggered it. It's a sign of respect is what they said. They also call me ma'am. It just sort of stuck.
One last question: Everyone always asks, but nobody knows... What was the infamous show that made you decide
to do music business? I didn't know it was such a mystery, but I would rather keep it that way. It wasn't the band.
It wasn't the song that was playing. It was the music. It's always been the music. I think that deep down, I have just always
known.
Anything else you’d like to add? I'm really thankful for the opportunities that I have been given.
There's nothing like this industry and I wouldn't trade it for the world! But, I have worked hard to get where I am today
and I know that I do not live the life of your average 18 year old. I think of it as getting prepared for bigger and better
things to come. I'm gonna be like Lil Wayne!; the whole world is gonna know my name.
